Taxonomy

The taxonomy repository provides a classification scheme for historical visualizations in the OldVis dataset, developed through qualitative coding.

This taxonomy organizes visualizations into a hierarchical structure with multiple levels of categories. Examples include bar charts (with subcategories such as grouped bar charts, pictogram bar charts, and stacked bar charts), line charts, pie charts, area charts, node-link diagrams, Sankey diagrams, timelines, and many others.
